Change an LPG Cylinder
There are different types of sources which can power forklifts. They can run using liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many uses. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which are able to be changed out when the machine has to be refueled.
In order to avoid potentially serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be certain to wear the appropriate safety equipment such as heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
