Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular version is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
