Forklift Classifications
The following classes of forklift describe the application and fuel choice of every forklift. Certification is really required for each class of forklift which the operator will be utilizing.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either pneumatic or cushion tires. Pneumatic tires are recommended for outdoor application in dry conditions. The cushion tired models are made for indoor, smooth surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles that use industrial batteries, which make them desirable within closed locations where air quality is a problem. Travel and hoist functions are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units normally used everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
This forklift is recommended for places where narrow aisles have to be negotiated. They are effective at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them ideal where speed is needed and for small spaces.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These are hand-controlled and battery-powered models. Utilizing a steering tiller, the operator can operate the lift while standing in front of the truck. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved sideways to steer the vehicle. The smaller capacity units utilize industrial batteries.
