How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Lots of people appreciate the convenience of utilizing a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the security offered from the lift's basket offer a lot more piece of mind than attempting to complete a similar task working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be parked next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found inside the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older models would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can potentially occur.
