Various Types of Aerial Lift
A specialized type of heavy machinery which allows an individual to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are usually utilized to complete repairs on areas that are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like most devices, there are different types of aerial lifts that can be used to perform a variety of tasks. For the utmost safety, every type of different kind of equipment needs proper training and specific qualifications prior to operation.

Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic type of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly utilized indoors. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to large carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could use these devices, workers have to be certified as operators.

Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complex pieces of aerial lift equipment. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that allows the operator to hoist and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Traditionally, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, thus, operators need to be certified individually for these types of lifts.
